Susan in the Dunk tank (Commission)

Susan took a deep breath as she peered out at the mingling crowds of people. Dozens upon dozens of face peered back at her. The hot summer sun warmed the back of her neck and caused her light blue uniform blouse to stick to her chest. The water below her feet looked almost inviting.

“Come one, come all and dunk the little lady!” Shouted the man working the dunk tank. “Come one, come all and not only give the little lady a nice cool bath on this hot September afternoon. But give a dollar or two to the children’s hospital in Jackson.” Shouted the hustler.

Susan gently rolled her eyes as she peered toward Mr. Edward, the science teacher working the booth. He was laying it on hot and heavy and she was sure, before her shift was up, she’ll be swimming in the ice water below her. Then through the crowed she spotted somebody that made her blush like a bride at the alter. Her boyfriend, Brian Walker and his running bodies where slowly making there way toward the booth.

“Hey there son!” Cried Mr. Edward. “Dunk your girl and win her a bear for your efforts. “ He said tossing one of the round, heavy leather balls toward Brian once he came within throwing rang. The young man caught it with practice ease and grinned a little toward Sue.

“You know I love ya right?” he said tossing the one from one hand to the other. “Don’t ya Susie Q?” He said starting to warm up his pitching arm.

Susan blushed a little more and just nodded her head a little as she eyed the ball, going back and forth in Brian’s hand. Seemed she was going to taking that dip sooner than later.
